The Arts Club of Chicago is pleased to present this exhibition of important and extraordinary work by the Canadian artit’s collaborative General Idea. Through performances, videos, exhibitions, and publications, General Idea developed an international audience during their twenty-six year career – evident in the extensive chronology of their activities in the previous pages – yet their work has rarely been seen in Chicago. The Arts Club offers this opportunity for members and visitors to consider the group’s contributions, their positive and poignant commentary on the fragility of life, and the camaraderie of three artists reflecting on the state if the (art) world.
