D’après Ulises Carrión dans « The New Art of Making Books » (dont est tiré le titre de cette exposition), cela serait l’un des enjeux du livre d’artiste. Ce dernier étant considéré depuis les années 1960 comme une alternative à l’exposition institutionnelle, véhiculant des pratiques artistiques, à travers une économie qui rend leurs modes d’existence et accessibilité plus démocratiques, nous avons choisi de porter ici un regard sur l’économie du livre. Dans cette exposition vous trouverez des publications d’artistes rendant visible une économie légère, de manière physique (impression, papier, reliure, façonnage), par des choix esthétiques, ou par leur petit tirage.

To express something, whatever the means. According to Ulises Carrión in « The New Art of Making Books » (from which the title of this exhibition is taken), this is one of the challenges of the artist’s book. Since the 1960s, the artist’s book has been seen as an alternative to the institutional exhibition, conveying artistic practices through an economy that makes their modes of existence and accessibility more democratic, so we’ve chosen to take a look at the economics of the book. In this exhibition, you’ll find publications by artists who make a light economy visible, whether through the physical qualities of the books (printing, paper, binding, finishing), the aesthetic choices, or their small print runs.
